It was expected, it is now a reality. The Panthers drafted with the first pick of the 2023 draft their future quarterback, Bryce Young.
University of Alabama star, 2021 Heisman Trophy, 2020 national champion, Young comes out of the University of Alabama with a resume as long as his arm (but not his own). A true leader, endowed with a magic, clever and improvisatory arm, he has all the qualities that could make him a great quarterback in the NFL. The only problem is his size (1m78), but as many pitchers have proven in recent years, it’s not the size that matters.
With this choice, Carolina acquires a player who seems ready to play in the big league immediately for the first season of the Frank Reich era. The exchange made a month and a half ago with the Bears was therefore well done in order to select the future boss of the Panthers attack. With Andy Dalton at his side, Bryce Young will have plenty of time to learn the trade alongside a confirmed veteran.
