The sales have started in Carolina.
The departure of Matt Rhule launched the big maneuvers in Carolina. The first player to change horizons is Robbie Anderson, who is packing for Arizona.
ESPN announces that the Panthers will receive a 2024 6th round pick and a 2025 7th round pick in the trade.
The veteran receiver caught 13 passes for 206 and 1 touchdown with the Panthers this year. He was clearly cited as a target of a possible exchange as the club reviews its foundations, especially after his falling out with the coaches on Sunday in the loss to the Rams. At the Cardinals, his mission will be to make up for the absence of Marquise Brown, injured in the ankle this weekend. According to ESPN, the injury could end Brown’s season.
Anderson had signed a two-year contract extension in August 2021 for $29.5 million. The trade drains his salary from Carolina’s payroll (much needed by the franchise), but will have only a limited impact on the direction of both teams as his commitment was restructured in the offseason.
The receiver seemed unhappy with his situation with the Panthers. He had several confrontations with his position coach Joe Dailey to the point where the disagreement came to a head, and he was ejected from the game against the Rams by Steve Wilks this weekend. Carolina therefore lost little time in solving the problem.
