Carolina Panthers (3-7) – New York Giants (2-8): 20-17 after overtime
After 2 games in Frankfurt last season, the NFL is back in Munich. Under an almost winter cold, the two teams obviously wanted to take advantage of the German atmosphere by going to overtime.
Very good so far, Tyrone Tracy Jr. commits an unfortunate fumble at the start of overtime. Happy to regain the ball, the Panthers do not hold back to win their 2nd consecutive victory, their 3rd of the season.
The Giants or the big anything
Between these 2 teams lacking victories, the Panthers continue to ride on their victory from last week. Despite a sack conceded at the start of the match after a slide, Bryce Young (15/25, 126 yards, TD) ensures and finds his receivers like the interesting Jalen Coker (3 REC, 41 yards) or Xavier Legette (3 REC, 40 yards). Neither one nor the other will score a touchdown in the first half, it is Ja'Tavion Sanders who will score the one and only touchdown in a first half lacking in intensity.
In difficulty throughout the first period, the Giants alternated between a few flashes and complete nonsense. The flashes are to be credited to Tyrone Tracy Jr. alone (18 races, 103 yards, TD, 1 lost fumble), and the defense. The symbol of great nonsense is this flea flicker attempted on the 3rd attempt with only 1 yard to gain, leading to a sack conceded by a borrowed Daniel Jones (22/37, 7 races, 216 yards, TD, 2 INT) and little confidence. In addition to a missed field goal and a more than avoidable interception, Brian Daboll's men missed their first period. (10-0)
Chuba Hubbard deserved his extension
Despite the reduction in Tyrone Tracy Jr.'s score, the Panthers are thinking of driving the point home with Chuba Hubbard (28 races, 153 yards, TD, lost fumble) in a big afternoon on the Munich lawn. The Panthers runner proves that he deserves his contract, and allows his team to widen the gap. But, on the other hand, the Giants show that they can resist adversity.
Average or even bad so far, Daniel Jones finally builds a good offensive series which he concludes himself. The Giants even think they have a chance after a Chubba Hubbard fumble. Fortunately, the Panthers are facing a quarterback who is falling back into his ways. Josey Jewell takes advantage and makes an interception on Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Unable to find Malik Nabers (6 REC, 50 yards) in particular, the Giants can only win overtime. An extension which will not please them, the fault of a new approximation (again) which will change nothing in the destiny of the Giants. Unlike the Panthers who have more victories than all of last season.
