Carolina Panthers (1-7) – Indianapolis Colts (4-5): 13-27
Sundays aren’t easy for every rookie quarterback. Unlike CJ Stroud, Bryce Young (24/39, 173 yards, 1TD, 3INT) and his Panthers went through hell this Sunday.
The rookie lost a series of ball losses (3 interceptions) leading his team to defeat. If it’s not all his fault, with once again a bad offensive line, Young still threw passes they shouldn’t have…
The Colts only had to take advantage of these errors to lock the game in the second half after widening the gap first.
Too easy for Indianapolis
No real match between the two teams in the first half. The Colts are dominating proceedings on both sides of the ball.
In attack, Indianapolis plays balanced (19 races for 17 passes) and advances enough to score several times. Two field goals and a touchdown from Jonathan Taylor (18 races, 47 yards, 1TD) allowed the attack to score 13 points.
On the defense side, Gus Bradley’s men don’t let much get by. Carolina scores well with a kick but mainly continues punts. Worse, Kenny Moore managed to intercept Bryce Young, just before halftime, and returned it for a touchdown.
At half-time, the visitors led 20 to 3 quite easily. Frank Reich and his staff have no answers. The attack and Young, under constant pressure, only gained 62 yards…
An impossible climb
You have to wait a long time in the 3rd quarter before seeing the first points. Carolina took the time but finally finds the loophole. After a series of 9 yards and 15 plays, the Panthers scored the touchdown (10-20) on a pass from Young to DJ Chark.
Unfortunately for the locals, their quarterback makes more mistakes. Young once again sees one of his passes intercepted by Kenny Moore who goes 66 yards this time (10-27).
If a field goal brings the Panthers closer (13-27), a third interception and a sack on the 4th attempt in the last quarter ruin Carolina’s meager hopes.
