Green Bay Packers (8-9) – Detroit Lions (9-8): 16-20
Did Aaron Rodgers play his last game in the NFL? The looks were melancholy when he left the field this Sunday. Because, at leasthe played his last match of the 2022 season.
The Packers, however, led 16-13 at the start of the last quarter. But the Lions managed an impeccable sequence to win. First with an offensive of more than eight minutes, completed by a touchdown from Jamaal Williams (16 races, 72 yards, 2 TDs) to go back in front (16-20). Green Bay then recovers the leather with just under six minutes to play. But Rodgers (17/27, 205 yards, 1 TD, 1 int) launches an interception! Detroit then turns the clock to the end, with audacity! On 2nd&17, Amon-Ra St.Brown (6 rec, 49 yards) picks up a 2-yard pass and passes it laterally to D’Andre Swift, who adds 22 yards to the action! Jared Goff (23/34, 224 yards) finishes the job on a 4 & 1 converted on a pass for DJ Chark. End of the dream for the Packers.
A closed game
If the conclusion was lively, the meeting had a lot of trouble getting started. Because this Sunday, the Lions have finally decided to close the doors on the ground. The attack of the Packers therefore does not really be dangerous. She is content with a field goal at the start of the game, before a failure on the fourth attempt, two other kicks. Aaron Jones even loses a fumble!
Detroit doesn’t do much better, with two kicks. At the break, the score is 9-6 in favor of Green Bay.
Two touchdowns for the win
It was not until the middle of the third quarter that Kalif Raymond blasted the game with a reception from 43 yards. He lands just 1 yard from the end zone, and Jamaal Williams concludes (9-13). Something to wake up the Packers! Allen Lazard (4 rec, 41 yards, 1 TD) responds in the next series with a touchdown (16-13).
After a punt exchange that led the teams in the final period, Detroit started its winning offensive. Green Bay will not recover. The interception thrown by Rodgers to Kerby Joseph will be his last pass of the year.
Detroit will not go to the playoffs, but consoles itself with its first positive record since 2017, and above all the pleasure of depriving a rival of the playoffs.
