Packers – Lions (14-24): Jared Goff and the Lions get their hands on the North

Green Bay Packers (6-3) – Detroit Lions (7-1): 14-24

Neither the rain, nor the wind, nor the audience Lambeau Field cannot stop this Lions team. Launched into the conquest of the North in the National Conference, Detroit records a 6th consecutive victory, and is well on its way to conquering it.

Like last week against the Titans, the Lions won their game with fewer cumulative yards than the Packers. But the difference is in the errors. Where the Lions did little or nothing at all, the Packers piled it on. Between penalties, loose balls, and poor game choices, Matt LaFleur's players may regret having ultimately missed out on their match, despite some flashes.

Brian Branch sent off

After the first points by the Packers, the Lions press where it hurts, that is to say by land. David Montgomery (17 races, 73 yards) is already hot, but he is not the one who will score the first points for the Lions. The lucky winner is Amon-Ra St. Brown (7 REC, 56 yards, TD), on a perfect pass from Jared Goff (18/22, 145 yards, TD).

But, in euphoria, we can sometimes be too enthusiastic. This is the case with Brian Branch. On his first foul of the match, the safety will find himself expelled by the referees for a helmet against helmet on Bo Melton. The Packers don't take advantage, commit a lot of penalties, and even miss a field goal.

We must believe that this expulsion cooled the Packers rather than the Lions. Jordan Love (23/39, 273 yards, INT) even throws a nasty interception to Kerby Joseph. The Lions safety's 6th interception this season has serious consequences for the Packers since it ends with a touchdown. The Detroit franchise widens the gap at the best time, while Green Bay could have come back to 1 point a few minutes earlier.

Packers too short

Like last week against the Titans, the Lions must find a new way to score a touchdown after the break. After the air and defense, it is now the ground that is in the spotlight. David Montgomery had ignited the start of the 1st half, this time, it was Jahmyr Gibbs who scored on a 4th attempt (again). Then, curtain, the Lions attackers finished their show, it was effective and sufficient.

See you next week.

The Packers try to react, but cannot capitalize. Josh Jacobs (13 carries, 95 yards) was stopped on a 4th attempt with a yard to gain. Then, Dontayvion Wicks releases a ball that should have been a touchdown. Finally, it was Emmanuel Wilson (4 races, 28 yards, TD) who scored his first career touchdown. However, this remains insufficient. The Packers are therefore going on a bye week with a third defeat this season.
