The NFL wishes to continue its international development. After indicating the holding of a regular season match in Brazil in 2024, the league announced that the number of matches abroad would double from 2025, increasing from four to eight meetings.
“Becoming a global sport is a major strategic priority for the league and its 32 teams,” said Roger Goodell. “Increasing the number of international matches allows us to increase our global presence and share our game with new and exciting markets to connect with more fans around the world. »
In addition to the match in Sâo Paulo, the NFL will play two matches in London and one in Munich in 2024. A third match will take place in London, that of the Jaguars at home. However, not being organized by the NFL but by the franchise, it is not counted among the international matches.
For 2025, matches in the United Kingdom and Germany should be on the program again. Other destinations have not yet been revealed. If this goes well in Brazil in 2024, it is easy to imagine that the partnership will continue. A return to Mexico is also conceivable. Finally, Spain is one of the favorites to host the NFL in the near future. For France, it seems we will have to wait.
