New jerseys for the Detroit Lions and return of black

The new Detroit Lions jersey for the 2024 season was to be unveiled on the night of Thursday to Friday, during an event dedicated to their subscribers.

But a Fanatics ad published in USA Today media earlier Thursday and shared on social media appears to have revealed the new Lions jerseys for the upcoming season ahead of time. And finally, the franchise made its three new outfits official on its website.

Main novelty? The return of the third black jersey which has not been worn by the Michigan franchise since 2007. The numbers are blue, like the new white jersey. And blue and silver edging adorns the sleeves.

If the style is successful, this color combination has not necessarily brought sporting luck to the franchise. In the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons, the Lions only won 5, 3 and 7 games.

A design that goes against the grain of that of the Jets

While several franchises have abandoned the name of the city on the jersey in recent years, like the Jets, the Lions have decided to revive the trend. The white jersey will bear the name of the city and the new black jersey the name of the franchise. Only the blue jersey is spared.

On the other hand, the edging on the sleeves has been refined. And no more names appear in this place on the jersey.

Finally, good news, the gray color has been abandoned for the numbers on the blue jersey. Return to a more classic white color.
