[NCAA] The five unmissable college games in 2024

Five college games, ten teams and around thirty interesting players for the 2025 NFL Draft. Here is a selection of the five unmissable college games for the 2024 season.

1- Texas-Georgia: October 19

For the past 10 years, Georgia has dominated college football: 114 wins for 22 losses since 2014! In 2024, they are favorites to win the title again.

The roster is filled with future first-round draft picks: 10 players in the first round of the last three drafts! On defense, the candidates are Mykel Williams (DE/13), Smael Mondon (LB/2) and Malaki Starks (S/24). On offense, quarterback Carson Beck (15) has been very accurate in 2023: 3,941 yards at an average of 72% completions! Runner Trevor Etienne (1) and the tight end duo Oscar Delp (4) and Benjamin Yurosek (0) will be his best allies.

Opposite, the University of Texas will be able to count on an average attendance exceeding 100,000 people! Above all, it can hope for the presence of the very talented quarterback Quinn Ewers (3). The explosive receiver Isaiah Bond (7) arrives from Alabama to help him in his task. The protection offered by the tackle Kelvin Banks (78) is also a major asset to put him in the best conditions.

On defense, the sophomore talent has huge potential: Anthony Hill (LB/0), Malik Muhammad (CB/5) and Derek Williams (S/2). They are surrounded by the experience of defensive lineman Alfred Collins (95), safety Andrew Mukuba (13) and hybrid safety/linebacker Jahdae Barron (7).

2- Ohio State-Michigan: November 30

This rivalry is considered the most important at the university level. It even has a nickname to confirm it: The Game. This match on November 30 will be the 120th between these two universities! If since October 16, 1897, Michigan leads the series (61-51-6), Ohio State could reduce the gap.

The Buckeyes' defense has at least four players projected to be top-50 picks in the 2025 draft: Jack Sawyer (DE/33), Tyleik Williams (DT/91), JT Tuimoloau (DE/44) and Denzel Burke (CB/10). On offense, Will Howard (18) arrives after four seasons at Kansas State. He can rely on receiver Emeka Egbuka (2) and a terrifying duo of runners: Quinshon Judkins (1) and TreVeyon Henderson (32).

To compete in a revamped Big Ten conference in 2024 (arrivals of USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington), the Michigan Wolverines are relying on their defense. Mason Graham (DT/55) and Will Johnson (CB/2) are currently rated as two players who could enter the top 10 of the next draft.

Running back Donovan Edwards (7) and tight end Colston Loveland (18) also rank among the best at their positions. But without the three main offensive weapons of 2023 (QB JJ McCarthy, RB Blake Corum and WR Roman Wilson) as well as coach Jim Harbaugh, Michigan will have a hard time retaining its championship title.

3- Texas A&M-Notre Dame: August 31.

Home of the “12th Man”, a name adopted by Seattle in the NFL, Kyle Field averages 100,000 spectators per game. Mostly military personnel in training. In 2024, they will be excited for the defensive line of the Aggies from Texas A&M.

Three players are experts at putting pressure on: Shemar Turner (5) on the inside with Nic Scourton (11) and Cashius Howell (34) on the outside. Former defensive coordinator of the university (2018-2021), Mike Elko is the new head coach. Orphaned by linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (pick 45 of the Packers in 2023), the second year Taurean York (21) takes over after one season freshman very promising.

The defense of “TAMU” will have a lot to do with the offense of Notre Dame. Quarterback Riley Leonard (13) arrives from Duke University. He is strong, mobile and has a powerful arm. His throws will be directed mainly to two players arrived by transfer: Beaux Collins (0) from Clemson and Kris Mitchell (10) from Florida International. And because it is tradition at Notre Dame, tight end Mitchell Evans (88) will also be a favorite target in offense.

4- Tennessee-Alabama: October 19

Neyland Stadium (above) is a showcase with an average attendance of 101,915 spectators in 2023. In this “deep American” South, fans of the Volunteers All dressed in orange or white have eyes of love for pass rusher James Pierce Jr. (27). Explosive from the moment the ball is engaged, his mix of technique and speed gives him a huge impact on matches. It will take that to counter the mobility of Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe (4).

Strong, mobile and capable of some formidable throwing sequences, Jalen Milroe has the potential to become a new Cam Newton. But to do so, he must become more consistent in his performances.

As surprising as seeing a coach other than Bill Belichick on the sidelines of the New England Patriots, seeing an Alabama team without Nick Saban to lead it seems unreal! His replacement Kalen DeBoer imports an offensive system that had a lot of success with the University of Washington in 2022 and 2023.

5- Colorado-Oklahoma State: November 29

For the past two years, the destiny of the Colorado football team has been in the hands of Deion Sanders. The coach's spotlight-grabbing personality isn't the only reason to be interested in the Buffaloes.

Two Colorado players could be chosen in the top 5 of the 2025 draft! Quarterback Shedeur Sanders (son of the coach) shines with his precision. His ability to move in the pocket and the velocity of his throws are attractive to an NFL staff.

He can also rely on an exceptional player! Travis Hunter (12), in 2023, scored 5 touchdowns (and 721 yards) but also recorded 3 interceptions! Receiver and cornerback, he knows how to make a difference on both sides of the ball.

Opposite, the Oklahoma State team struggles to compete with the best but has a major asset in its squad: Ollie Gordon II (0). In a very promising crop of runners, he is the ultimate jewel. Big and strong (1m90 for 98 kilos), he is incredibly difficult to stop.
