NCAA – Heisman Trophy: Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty finalists

The names of the 4 finalists Heisman Trophy (best university player) are now known, a trophy which will be awarded this Saturday by the NCAA.

Unsurprisingly, we find the 2 dazzling players of this 2024 regular season, namely Ashton Jeanty (RB, Boise State) and Travis Hunter (WR/CB, Colorado).

The Colorado player is having a historic 2024 season. Best defensive player in the Big 12 conference, he was equally decisive in attack and defense. He is the leader of his conference in the number of receptions, with 92, and 2nd in the number of receiving yards, with 1192. All this accompanied by 4 interceptions. A brilliant season which places him among the favorites for this individual distinction.

The Boise State player had an incredible regular season, and was one of the great architects of the Broncos' qualification for the playoffs. The runner is the NCAA co-leader in rushing touchdowns (29). With 2,497 yards, he achieves the 4th university mark of all time. Finally, 6 of his games this season ended with more than 200 yards rushing. With incredible stats and a big visual impression, it's no surprise to see him with the trophy. He could succeed Derrick Henry (RB, Ravens), the last runner to have won it.

Cam Ward and Dillon Gabriel preferred to Shedeur Sanders for the Heisman Trophy

With these 2 players, we find 2 quarterbacks. First up is Cam Ward. The likely future first round of the Draft is having an exceptional season despite Miami (FL) not qualifying for the playoffs. He leads the NCAA in touchdown passes this season with 36, a university record.

The last quarterback rewards Oregon's magnificent season. Dillon Gabriel leads the Ducks to the Big Ten conference title in the university's first season in this one. The quarterback is following in the footsteps of Bo Nix (QB, Broncos), finalist last season. This is the first time he has named in his 6-year college career, following stints at UCF and Oklahoma.

The 2 quarterbacks were preferred to Shedeur Sanders. Author of a good individual season, the Colorado quarterback pays for his team's overall record, which is worse than Miami (FL) and Oregon.
