Micah Parsons: “Mike McCarthy’s departure is devastating”

The Dallas Cowboys entered the coaching market after everyone else by not finding an agreement to extend Mike McCarthy, who has led them to the playoffs three times in the last five years.

Some players blame it. And Micah Parsons has a podcast to tell it.

In an episode posted online Tuesday, the Cowboys defensive star did not hesitate to talk about a big reset in his team because of this departure.

“It’s very, very interesting. Obviously it's sad because of the relationship we had with Coach McCarthy and what he did for our team: three straight 12-win seasons, playoff appearances and obviously a year of bad luck with injuries. But it’s devastating”Parsons explained. “ Coach Mike is an awesome father and coach. One of the coaches who has won the most (174 victories, 13th in NFL history, Editor's note) and we know that he has always been good to us. Losing a great coach like Mike hurts. »

It is now time to turn to an uncertain sequel.

It's going to be an interesting offseason. Very interesting. With the free agents, the coaches, it’s going to be a complete reset. It's going to be very interesting and a challenge, but I'll trust the owner. I trust the general manager. I trust Will Clay (vice president of membership). I have confidence that they will make the right decisions. »

Micah Parsons waits to find out who will coach him on defense

Beyond the departure of Mike McCarthy, if Parsons speaks of uncertainty, it is because the defense should also be concerned.

We will wait to see who will be hired, see who our coordinators will be”recalled the defender after brushing aside the hiring rumors. “ Because it's going to be a complete reset. So it's going to be interesting to see how these guys view the players, who they want to bring in, who they want to keep, who they want to build around. Because now we know that our staff liked certain players and wanted to bring them back, and maybe they won't come back. Because new players may have a different opinion on defense and offense. »

On the defensive end, change seemed to be coming no matter what. Mike Zimmer, the coordinator this season, is reportedly thinking about retirement.
