Madden 25: Who are the best safeties in the game?

After the receivers, Madden 25 puts the spotlight on the backfield defenders, the last safety valves, the safeties.

Antoine Winfield Jr. on the board

Antoine Winfield Jr. isn't the best safety in the game based on his overall grade. He's “only” second with a deserved 94. That's obviously a great grade for the Buccaneers' young star. The defender has stepped up a gear this year, and was the only player at his position nominated for the Defensive Player of the Year award. He also earned a spot on the All-Pro first team.

We will have to wait until next year to hope to become number 1. Today, the place is taken by Jessie Bates III. The Atlanta player has nothing left to prove and sits at the top of the Madden 25 Safety rankings with ease.

Young people on the rise

Winfield Jr. isn't the only one making an appearance in the video game franchise's top 10. On the verge of this ranking in 2023, Talanoa Hufanga, Jevon Holland and especially Kyle Hamilton are making deserved entries among the veterans.

Thirty-somethings Tyrann Matthieu and Kevin Byard III are still there, showing that experience also pays off at the position. The only one missing is none other than Justin Simmons. His overall rating is still at 90, but the player is patiently waiting to sign a contract…

The complete Top 10 (overall rating)

1 – Jessie Bates III (97)

2 – Antoine Winfield Jr. (94)

3 – Minkah Fitzpatrick (93)

4 – Derwin James Jr. (91)

5 – Tyrann Mathieu (91)

6 – Budda Baker (90)

7 – Kevin Byard III (89)

8 – Kyle Hamilton (89)

9 – Talanoa Hufanga (88)

10 – Jevon Holland (88)
