Fires in Los Angeles will deprive the Rams of a home game. Logically, the NFL announced Thursday evening the planned meeting between the Los Angeles players and the Vikings this Monday at SoFi Stadium would ultimately be played in Phoenix.
The two teams will face each other on the pitch at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, the home of the Arizona Cardinals.
In its press release, the NFL announced that the decision was made in the interest of public safety. It was taken jointly with the teams, the players' union, but above all the local authorities.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, with a two-hour window first reserved for Rams season ticket holders. A non-stop flight between Los Angeles and Phoenix takes approximately 1.5 hours. By car, it's almost 7 hours.
Los Angeles ravaged by fires
Moving an American football match is obviously not much compared to the disaster currently hitting California.
Since Tuesday, ten people have already died according to local authorities. Four hundred soldiers from the National Guard were sent as reinforcements. More than 13,000 hectares have already burned. More than 9,000 buildings have already been destroyed, including some historic sites in the region.
While the main outbreaks remain out of control, the city is now bathed in smoke.
