Jared Goff threw 3 interceptions and yet he managed an impressive comeback. Goff cracks but doesn’t break!
Detroit Lions (8-2) – Chicago Bears (3-8): 31-26
Miraculous. Jared Goff (23/35, 236 yards, 2TD, 3INT) and the Lions came back from nowhere to win this game in the very last seconds (31-26).
Trailing 14-26 with 4 minutes to go, then 21-26 with 2 minutes to go, Dan Campbell’s men went for two touchdowns in quick succession to get back in front with 30 seconds to go!
Detroit even allows itself the luxury of causing a safety at the very end of the match while Justin Fields took the snap to try to get the victory!
A victory which seems all the more improbable as the Lions lost 4 balls on Sunday…
Jared Goff cracks but…
Chicago can smile at the start of the meeting. While the team scored a touchdown (0-7) on its first series after a well-executed drive, the defense was especially successful.
Indeed, the Bears caused two interceptions, and even a fumble. Jared Goff and his offense are unlike anything we’ve seen since the start of the season.
Unfortunately for the Bears, the attack is unable to improve all these turnovers. With just one field goal following these recovered balls, Justin Fields (16/23, 169 yards, 1TD) and his attack do not reassure.
Worse, the Lions even managed to finish the first half in the lead (14-10) with a touchdown from Gibbs and one from St-Brown (8 rec, 77 yards, 1TD) just before returning to the locker room.
Chicago is located
In the second half, we believe that Chicago finally passes the second and manages to conclude. Once again, the defense did its best with a fumble and a forced interception on the Lions’ first two offensive series.
In addition, the attack finally begins to improve these gifts. Chicago scored three field goals and a touchdown on a reception from DJ Moore (7 rec, 96 yards, 1TD).
The visitors then lead 23 to 14 and finally seem to have a dominant victory. Except that…
Except that Jared Goff and his attack are finding rhythm at the best (or worst…) time. Detroit scores two touchdowns to get back in front and win the match.
Once again, eyes will return to the Bears and their offense. Certainly, the defense did not know how to “maintain the gap”, but with 4 turnovers caused, the attack should have “killed” the match before.
