[Le journal des rookies] week 3: The ubiquitous Jalen Pitre

Every NFL Wednesday, the Rookie Diary honors the most prominent rookies. The best offensive beginner, his defensive alter ego, the action, the revelation of the week, the flop… And, to finish, the Power Rooking. Everything, you will know everything about the Rookies!

Offensive Rookie of the Week

Romeo Doubs – WR – Green Bay Packers
8 receptions, 73 yards, 1 touchdown

Despite a still sluggish attack, the Packers found a light in their aerial game. Always well placed, and showing great mastery in his lines, the young receiver caught all the balls thrown at him. With 8 receptions, Doubs is the receiver who has captured the most balls since 2018 and who is not called Davante Adams. He was even one reception away from the franchise record for a rookie. What (re) make Aaron Rodgers smile? To be continued.

Defensive Rookie of the Week

Jalen Pitre – S – Houston Texans
8 tackles including 2 for loss, 1 sack, 2 interceptions, 2 passes defended

Apart from scoring a touchdown, Jalen Pitre has done everything to the Bears and especially to Justin Fields. Radiating in the defensive backfield, the former Baylor player showed all his versatility. To thwart the plans of the racing game or in the back of the field, Pitre was terribly effective. In a team still in transition, he stands out as a safe bet on whom to rely.

Special Mention: Devin Lloyd – LB – Jacksonville Jaguars

He too is everywhere. Since the start of the season Devin Lloyd has been the delight of the Jaguars’ new version defense. On cover or against the run, the former Utah player knows how to do everything, but above all, he does everything well. With an interception and several passes defended, he read Justin Herbert’s game perfectly and contributed greatly to giving him a bad evening.

Revelation of the week

Dameon Pierce – RB – Houston Texans
20 carries, 80 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 receptions, 21 yards

Revelation of the training camp, the runner finally confirmed in match. Over 100 yards in total and a major contribution to the attack of the Texans. Capable of perforating the line and exploiting breaches, he also showed all his agility by multiplying cuts and spin moves.

action of the week

George Pickens – WR – Pittsburgh Steelers

Odell Beckham has signed with the Steelers? No. But George Pickens may be his heir. The former Georgia receiver stood out on Thrusday Night Football with a crazy one-handed reception. Unbalanced, upside down, Pickens manages to grab the leather and is already applying for the action of the year.

Flop of the week

Evan Neal – OT – New York Giants

Overwhelmed the whole game by the pass rushers of the Cowboys, the rookie from Alabama spent a very dirty evening, totally overwhelmed by the speed of Lawrence in particular. Dejected in the locker room after the match, he himself admitted his poor performance.

Most of those sacks were for me. I take full responsibility. I just have to be better, there’s no other way to put it,” the tackle told reporters after the match.

To complete the picture, Neal also committed a false start during the last drive that could potentially lead to his team’s comeback.
