Joshua Dobbs transferred to Vikings

The Vikings know their new starting quarterback: it’s Joshua Dobbs. Minnesota and the Cardinals have agreed on a quarterback transfer, as announced Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. The compensation is not yet known.

Yesterday, the Cardinals suggested the starting quarterback position would be played between Kyler Murray, whose return is imminent, and rookie Clayton Tune. The Arizona staff must therefore already have known that Dobbs would no longer be in the squad next Sunday.

Deprived of Kirk Cousins, who tore his Achilles tendon, the Vikings were wondering about the name of the holder. The names of the candidates, 5th round rookie Jaren Hall and veteran Sean Mannion, were not very attractive. All while waiting for Nick Mullens to return from injury. Nothing too exciting for a team that is still aiming for the playoffs today.

If Joshua Dobbs is far from the level of Kirk Cousins, he showed good things with Arizona. In 8 games, he threw for 1,569 yards, 8 touchdowns and 5 interceptions and completed 62.8% of his passes. He also scored three rushing touchdowns. Joshua Dobbs therefore leaves the Cardinals in reconstruction for the Vikings in the race for the playoffs.
