With the playoffs in full swing, the NFL and the Associated Press have just announced the finalists for the season awards.
No surprise for the most important prize, namely that of the MVP, where there are the two big favorites Josh Allen (QB, Bills) and Lamar Jackson (QB, Ravens), already double title holder. A candidacy which has also gained momentum, since the Ravens quarterback was selected for the first All-Pro team, while his competitor is only in the second. We will have to wait two more weeks before knowing if the voters also placed Jackson ahead of Allen for the MVP title.
For the rest, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Lions quarterback Jared Goff complete the list. With chances of election close to zero.
Lamar Jackson nominated twice, not Josh Allen
Apart from the race for the MVP title, several other prizes are up for grabs. Thus, Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson are also finalists for the title of offensive player of the year. A list where Josh Allen does not appear. Better yet, Joe Burrow will be a finalist for the third time since he is also in the running for the title of comeback player of the year.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 6 and will be broadcast on NFL Network.
