Josh McDaniels is one of those coaches who clearly does not know how to work with players they have not already managed in the past… After kicking Derek Carr out and seeing Jarrett Stidham leave for Denver, the Raiders finally decided to try the Jimmy Garoppolo bet.
According to ESPN, Jimmy G will commit for three years and 67.5 million dollars, including 34 million guaranteed.
Garoppolo is exactly the same age as Carr, but his salary will be quite far from the 100 million guaranteed by the Saints to Carr. Trouble is, he’s only played one full season since joining the league in 2014. Again in 2022, Garoppolo ended up in the infirmary, this time due to a broken left foot.
But the advantage of the number 10 is that he knows Josh McDaniels well, who was his offensive coordinator and position coach at New England from 2014 to 2017.
In 2022, Garoppolo has started 10 games. He completed 67.2% of his passes for 2,437 yards, 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
