Jim Harbaugh (Chargers): “The goal is to win multiple titles”

Jim Harbaugh won his first NCAA title with Michigan a few weeks ago.

Now, back to the NFL. With a simple goal: the Super Bowl which eluded him with the 49ers.

A goal from which the new coach of the Los Angeles Chargers did not hide during his first press briefing on Thursday.

“It must be several titles,” Harbaugh even announced. “We are going to be humble. Humble and hungry. But that's our goal. Our goal is to treat our players in the best possible way, and to win several titles. »

Jim Harbaugh ready to change everything

To win titles, Jim Harbaugh will obviously shake things up.

“What we want to be is a tough, resilient, relentless and physical team. »

Kellen Moore, last year's offensive coordinator, was allowed to leave for Philadelphia. Defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley is still officially there, but Harbaugh did not want to confirm his retention for 2024.

“It’s our No. 1 priority right now. We want an All-Star staff who deserves to coach our players. […] I want to talk to as many people as possible before making a hiring decision. »

Harbaugh takes on a big project. The Chargers finished the season with a record of 5 wins and 12 losses. Financially, they are currently more than $50 million over the salary limit for the upcoming season. So we're going to have to make a lot of decisions.

The only sure thing? Harbaugh knows he has his quarterback with Justin Herbert.

“Justin Herbert is one of the jewels in the NFL crown,” assured the coach.
