Zach Wilson is once again the starting quarterback for the Jets. At least for this week.
Robert Saleh has announced that Mike White has not been given the green light by doctors to face the Lions. He is therefore not sufficiently recovered from the rib injury suffered during the last game, against the Bills.
The coach clarified that the radios did not reveal a fracture, and that the player feels well, but that the doctors did not want to let him cash in on contacts. An abundance of precautions rare enough to be underlined in the NFL, as we no longer count the cases of players who are on the field even with sometimes cracked or fractured ribs.
As a result of this package, Saleh confirmed that it is indeed Zach Wilson who will return to the field.
“This is going to be a great opportunity for Zach,” assured the coach.
Deprived of the starting position for three games, Wilson had been relegated to a role of third pitcher, behind Joe Flacco. But obviously, the veteran did not have enough confidence from the staff to be sent to the field.
