Jets: Quinnen Williams extends for 4 years and 96 million dollars

The contract spat between the Jets and Quinnen Williams has finally come to an end. NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero announced that the defensive tackle and his franchise had agreed to a four-year extension. At the end of the day, a salary of 96 million dollars, of which 66 million guaranteed.

This signing ends a complicated offseason between Williams and the New York front office. The 3rd pick in the draft had refused to participate in the voluntary activities of the Jets, and had even removed the name of the franchise from his Twitter status, leaving only appear:

“Defensive tackle for…..”

In question, contract negotiations which were not advancing, according to the player. The return of the name of the Jets on his Twitter account earlier in the day was a clue which was therefore confirmed with this extension.

The new contract makes Williams the second highest paid defensive tackle in the league, behind Aaron Donald. He will therefore receive 96 million dollars, or 2 small million more than Jeffery Simmons, who extended with the Titans in April, with however the same guarantee.

Author of the best season of his career, including a selection in the first All-Pro team, Quinnen Williams will therefore be one of the cornerstones of the young and talented defense of the Jets for the coming seasons. Good news for the Jets, who can finally focus on football, with a new quarterback and a promising team.
