Jets fire general manager Joe Douglas

Only three victories, but already two dismissals! NFL Media announces that Joe Douglas is no longer general manager of the Jets.

He was dismissed from his position on Tuesday. He was in the last year of his contract. A few weeks after Robert Saleh was fired, the cleaning continues in New York.

The 48-year-old leader had been in office since 2019. Since his arrival, the Jets have won 30 games. They especially lost 64.

Phil Savage has been named interim general manager. He is 59 years old. He has been with the franchise since 2019 in an advisory role.

Joe Douglas, a few hits… and huge misses

Joe Douglas's time with the Jets will remain marked by very highs and very lows in the choices, especially during the Draft. If his first selection bore fruit with Quinnen Williams, or he had a superb 2022 vintage (Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall), he also remains the man of Zach Wilson's choice in 2021.

On the exchange side, the arrivals of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams will have taken place under his mandate, even if the two players had greatly facilitated his work by expressing quite clearly their desire to come and leaving the leaders to manage for the rest.

Douglas began his scouting career for the Ravens in 2000. He remained there until 2014, before moving through the Bears and Eagles before joining the Jets.
