Jets: Corey Davis takes career break

Aaron Rodgers loses a target for the season.

Jets wide receiver Corey Davis will take a step back from the NFL.

According to NFL Media, Davis informed his team that he wants to step away from football. It is therefore not available for the start of the season.

On Instagram, he sent a long message.

“I had been thinking about leaving football for a long time. This decision was not easy. I’m a guy who doesn’t talk much. I have searched deep in my heart for a long time, and I believe that this decision is the best choice I can make at this time in my life. I feel lucky as I can imagine — I have a great family, 2 healthy kids. And I want to try to spend as much time as possible with them. I’m grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had. Thank you to my family and the Jets for helping me through this ordeal. »

It sounds like a message from a retiring player. But, Robert Saleh assures that Davis can take the time he needs if he wants to play during the first week of the regular season. The Jets coach took the opportunity to pay tribute to Corey Davis, a positive man in the locker room, while wishing him the best for the future.

Selected very high in the 2017 Draft (5th choice) by the Titans, he joined the Jets in 2021. During his time in New York, he only played 22 games, for 66 receptions, 1026 yards and 6 touchdowns.
