Jets – Bears (31-10): New York is having fun without Zach Wilson

New York Jets (7-4) – Chicago Bears (3-9): 31-10

Zach who? Without their titular quarterback, benched this week, the Jets did not shake. Better, they probably released their best offensive performance of the season.

Mike White (22/28, 315 yards, 3TD) was impeccable, Garrett Wilson (5 rec, 95 yards, 2TD) excellent and Elijah Moore (2rec, 64 yards, 1TD) came back from the dead… The victory is superb for New York but Zach Wilson’s ego will take a hit.

Conversely, Chicago, which remained in 4 games with more than 24 points, only missed 10 without its starting quarterback. Justin Fields will be able to spend a quieter Monday.

16/20, 235 yards and 2TD at halftime for Mike White! The substitute quarterback was particularly effective and led his team to points on 3 of his 5 series in the first half.

Beyond what he did better than Zach Wilson, White especially gave the feeling of a better “synchronization” with his teammates like Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore.

The rookie Wilson was particularly prominent with a touchdown on the first series of the match (7-0) then a second on a reception of 54 yards which then restored the advantage to the Jets at this time of the match (14-10).

The locals will widen the gap (17-10) just before halftime with a field goal from 57 yards.

Opposite, Chicago did not deserve. Deprived of Justin Fields, the Bears have a surprise time in attack thanks to replacement Trevor Siemian (14/25, 179 yards, 1TD, 1INT). The quarterback is doing pretty well on his first drive by bringing his own to the gates of the opposing endzone but stalls on an incomplete pass for Chase Claypool (2rec, 51 yards). The visitors are content with a field goal (7-3).

The attack even allows his team to take the advantage on their second series of the match. After several receptions from Claypool, Siemian finds the fault by connecting with Byron Pringle in the endzone for the touchdown (7-10)
The Bears end up stalling in this first act with two punts in a row but Sieman is not the most at fault with a record of 8/11 for 128 yards and 1TD at halftime.

The Jets take flight

Unfortunately for Chicago, the attack will continue throughout the match on the rhythm of its end of the first half… The Bears chain the punt or worse, they miss fourths or see Siemian being intercepted.

It is rather the opposite for New York. If the defense continues without surprise on its momentum, the attack also takes off.

The Jets fly away in the middle of the 3rd quarter when Mike White sends a through pass for Elijah Moore. The receiver receives and enters the endzone for the touchdown of 24 to 10.

The coup de grace is given on the following series with two big passes from White followed by a 32-yard run from Ty Johnson for the 31-10 touchdown.

Chicago does not recover and lets New York easily win this meeting. Has Mike White just won his starting spot for the rest of the season?
