It’s the turning point at the end of Super Bowl 57. As the Chiefs seem to have missed a third attempt with less than two minutes left, a penalty handkerchief appears.
A holding is whistled to James Bradberry. The cornerback held off JuJu Smith-Schuster. The penalty gives a first down which almost condemns de facto the Eagles.
Kansas City runs the clock and scores the winning field goal.
After the encounter, Bradberry was the first to admit his mistake.
“It was a holding company. I tugged on his shirt. I was hoping the referees would let it go,” he told reporters in the locker room.
A version confirmed by Smith-Schuster, also questioned a few minutes after the final whistle.
“100%,” replied the receiver when asked by a reporter if he had been held.
It is admitted, but it will surely be no less painful during the days to come.
