Jaguars – Falcons (23-7): The London ordeal of Desmond Ridder

Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) – Atlanta Falcons (2-2): 23-7

For this first match in London, the Jaguars enforced the hierarchy against the Falcons. Weighed down by its quarterback Desmond Ridder (19/31, 191 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT) in the first half, Atlanta and Arthur Smith tried to relieve him with the ground game played by Bijan Robinson (14 races, 105 yards ). Despite his 2nd game with more than 100 yards rushing and some impressive plays, the running back remains a rookie, and cannot do everything. Opposite, Jacksonville did not necessarily convince, but was serious. The Floridians are returning to balance, while the Falcons could be asking questions about their starting quarterback.

In loving memory of Calvin Ridley

The first period is dominated by the Jaguars despite the dazzling performances of Bijan Robinson. On offense first, with Trevor Lawrence (23/30, 253 yards, 1 TD) using his legs, then his arm to find former Falcon Calvin Ridley (2 REC, 38 yards, 1 TD) to open the score. In defense then, taking advantage of the inaccuracies of quarterback Desmond Ridder, Darious Williams goes for a touchdown, while Andre Cisco is stopped at the gates of the red zone. A situation that Jacksonville does not take advantage of, or rather saved by the Falcons defense.

Drake London at the right time

Start of improvement in the second half for the Falcons. Arthur Smith relieves Desmond Ridder by making his running backs run. However, it is the quarterback who will score the first points for his team in this match, helped by Drake London (3 REC, 28 yards, 1 TD). A field goal from Jacksonville later, the Falcons have the opportunity to reduce the score. But, on a 4th short attempt, Desmond Ridder did not find Drake London, well defended by Tre Herndon. Surprising game decisions as the Falcons’ ground game is more advanced than the aerial attack. Symbol of this match, the last play in attack of the Falcons marked by a lost fumble by Desmond Ridder.
