Giants: Saquon Barkley officially absent against the 49ers

Victim of a sprained ankle, Saquon Barkley will not play against the San Francisco 49ers.

Saquon Barkley was doubtful with his ankle sprain from the Week 2 game. The media were already announcing a three-week absence, but Brian Daboll said he was not ruling anything out. Finally, we had to face the facts.

The Giants confirmed Wednesday his absence for Thursday’s game against the 49ers.

Matt Breida, Gary Brightwell and Eric Gray are the other running backs on the Giants squad.

Three other players are on the list of absentees for the match against San Francisco: Ben Bredeson (OL), Azeez Ojulari (OLB) and Andrew Thomas (OT).

Only one complete season

After two games, 29 carries, 114 yards and 1 touchdown, Barkley is back in the infirmary. A sad habit for him. Since his rookie season, the All Pro rider has not managed a single full season.

In great difficulty during the first six quarters of its season, the Giants offense ended up scoring 31 points in the second half against the Cardinals. We will have to try to continue this momentum without Barkley, probably the best player in the squad.
