New York Giants (2-12) – Baltimore Ravens (9-5): 14-35
This year, the Giants have scored 3 passing touchdowns in 8 home games. Lamar Jackson (21/25, 290 yards, 5TDs) only needed one game to score 5. The Ravens quarterback spent a quiet afternoon in New York. Rashod Bateman (3 receptions, 80 yards, 2TDs) took the opportunity to sign one of the best performances of his career.
Not everything has been perfect for the Maryland franchise. The Ravens were penalized 12 times, for a total of 112 yards. Penalties which often allowed New York to keep its possessions alive. Without this, the attack on the locals seemed harmless.
Jackson five
Despite a complicated start to the game, marked by a fumble on his first race, Lamar Jackson struggled against the Giants. At halftime, the Ravens quarterback missed only one of his 14 pass attempts.
Three of them ended up in the endzone. Mark Andrews is the first lucky one. The tight end allows his team to open the scoring three minutes from the end of the 1er quarter time. Then it’s up to Rashod Bateman to shine. The receiver scores two touchdowns including one of 49 yards.
For New York, it's much more complicated offensively. The first two possessions end in 3&out. Finally, helped by 4 penalties for 41 yards, Devin Singletary and the Giants unlocked their counter and limited the damage at the break, 7-21.
Tim Boyle joins the dance
The second half begins with a change of quarterback for the Giants. Tommy DeVito (10/13, 68 yards) must leave his place due to a concussion and Tim Boyle (12/24, 123 yards, 1TD, 1int) becomes the fourth quarterback of the season to play for New York.
If his first possession quickly puts the Giants punter to work, the second is much more convincing. Starting on his 30 yards, the former Jets will lead his team to the opposing 2 yards. But the locals will break their teeth on the Ravens defense and their score remains stuck at 7 points.
In the meantime, Lamar Jackson continues to delight his targets. He finds Devontez Walker who celebrates his first NFL reception and his first touchdown at the same time. Faced with a defense that seems to have given up, Jackson also finds Justice Hill who quietly runs for a 27-yard touchdown, without opposition.
At the end of the game, Boyle and the Giants saved appearances a little. The only satisfaction of the New York season, Malik Nabers (10 receptions, 82 yards, 1TD) was found in the endzone for a 23-yard touchdown.
Final score, 35-14 for the Ravens. Baltimore continues its race towards the playoffs and maintains a slim hope of coming back against the Steelers. For the Giants, this defeat has the advantage of bringing them closer to the first choice in the 2025 draft.
