Giants: MRI confirms ruptured knee ligament for Daniel Jones

Season over for the Giants quarterback, Jones leaves for 9 to 12 months of convalescence.

The worst happened to the Giants. No sooner had they recovered Daniel Jones from a neck injury than New York’s starting quarterback will disappear for the rest of the season. Hit in the leg against the Raiders, Jones should be unavailable for 9 to 12 months according to ESPN. The MRI confirmed on Monday a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

With convalescence and rehabilitation ahead, a return for the start of the 2024 campaign is not assured.

With Tyrod Taylor already placed on the injured list, Big Blue only has Tommy DeVito to hold the New York attack. The franchise will therefore probably place Jones on the injured list fairly quickly, to be able to free up a place in the squad with the prospect of recruitment becoming necessary.

Jones will finish his 2023 season with 2 touchdown passes for 6 interceptions in 6 games played. Earlier this year he signed a four-year, $160 million contract (including $82 million guaranteed) with the Giants, placing him as the sixth highest-paid player in the league.
