Giants: Daniel Jones forfeits this Sunday

The ordeal continues for the Giants in this 2023 season. Injured in the neck, quarterback Daniel Jones will be unavailable this week for the prime time match on Sunday night (Sunday Night Football) against the Buffalo Bills. It’s the coach Brian Daboll himself who announced this package during a press conference.

There is no doubt as to who will start this Sunday, since the Giants only have one other quarterback on the roster at this time, veteran Tyrod Taylor (34 years old).

His last start dates back to December 5, 2021. It was a nice 31-0 defeat with the Texans against the Colts. Taylor was 5/13 passing for 45 yards and 1 interception, before tearing wrist ligaments and ending the season on the injured list.

Taylor also briefly replaced Daniel Jones last season in week 4, time to play a few actions, throw an interception, and suffer a concussion (the fourth of his career). Far from comprehensive insurance therefore.

The Giants have a third quarterback currently in the practice squad, Tommy DeVito (no relation to Danny), an undrafted rookie from the University of Illinois.

As bad news never comes alone, the Giants will also be without Andrew Thomas (OT), John Michael Schmitz (C) and Azeez Ojulari (LB), while Evan Neal (OT), Saquon Barkley (RB) and Darren Waller (TE) are uncertain.
