Giants coach Brian Daboll is confirmed by owner John Mara. General manager Joe Schoen as well, all despite another negative season. With 3 victories and 14 defeats, the Giants therefore choose not to change anything.
John Mara says he wants to be patient with Daboll and Schoen, even if the defeats pile up. Despite numerous management errors such as the departure of Saquon Barkley or the expensive extension of Daniel Jones, he remains faithful to his existing team.
“Now that our season is over, we felt it necessary to make this statement. Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will continue in their respective roles within the organization. As disappointing as the season's results have been, Steve [Tisch] and I remain confident in the process Joe and Brian have put in place for our team. We look forward to moving forward and achieving the results we all want. »
After a spectacular debut, Brian Daboll lost his footing
Everything started well for Brian Daboll. In 2022 and while New York was far from being a dominant team, the coach allowed them to string together close victories to the point of reaching the playoffs. Once in the Wild Card, they had the luxury of beating the Minnesota Vikings, although they were widely favored. A full season which allowed Daboll to receive the title of coach of the year.
But unfortunately the fairy tale came to an abrupt end. Daniel Jones never became more than an average quarterback despite signing a $160 million contract the year before, and the Giants began the 2023 season with a 40-0 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys. They never recovered from this defeat and dragged their spleen all season to finish with a sad record of 6-11. Then the 2024 season was even worse. New York was on a 10-game losing streak and Jones was benched and then cut during that span. The New Yorkers finished the season with 3 victories for 14 defeats. Worst record in the league, but still insufficient to recover the first choice in the next Draft…
Performances which aroused the disgust of fans throughout the season, but this dissatisfaction will not prevent the duo from trying once again to raise the bar. Otherwise, the sky at MetLife Stadium may be very crowded next fall.
