Chiefs: Hollywood Brown expected to miss entire regular season

He was one of the Chiefs' star signings of the offseason. Ultimately, we'll have to wait until the playoffs, at best, to see Hollywood Brown (WR) catch Patrick Mahomes' passes.

ESPN reports that the receiver has been placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, but that his absence is expected to extend well beyond the four-game minimum. Hollywood Brown will require surgery. He is not expected to be ready to play until the end of the regular season, let alone mid-January.

The 26-year-old caught 51 passes for 574 yards and four touchdowns last season with the Cardinals. Kansas City signed him for one year and $11 million.

Everyone has an opinion about Tua

After Tua Tagovailoa's terrible concussion against the Bills, it was the question that was asked at the weekend's press conferences: Retirement, not retirement? How should Tua's case be handled?

His coach Mike McDaniel plays the denial card.

“To touch on this subject is unhealthy. Talking about his future is not in the best interest of my player. In the end, Tua is the only one who should have something to say about the rest of his career.”

Antonio Pierce (Raiders) has a more clear-cut opinion.

“Honestly, I would tell him to stop. I have never seen anything like what happened to him. And it happened to him 3 times.”

ESPN reports that Tagovailoa will meet with neurologists in the coming days.

Injuries

– Russell Wilson (QB, Steelers, calf) is officially doubtful for this Sunday's game against the Broncos, but he is not expected to play. (ESPN)

– Jordan Love (QB, Packers, knee) is not officially out for the game against the Colts, but he was given a “very doubtful” designation and thus appears headed for a game without playing.

– Touched against the Dolphins, Terrel Bernard (LB, Bills) should miss several weeks of competition. (ESPN)

– Zyon McCollum (CB, Buccaneers) has completed all steps to exit the NFL's post-concussion protocol. He will be eligible to play this Sunday against the Lions. (ESPN)

– Nate Wiggins (CB, Ravens) will miss the game against the Raiders because he was involved in a car accident. Nothing serious, John Harbaugh assured the press, but enough to keep the rookie out of the game. He was added to the injury report with a sore neck. He did not practice Thursday and Friday.

They will not play this Sunday

  • Buccaneers: Calijah Kancey (DL), Luke Goedeke (OT)
  • Colts: Justin Blackmon (S)
  • 49ers: Christian McCaffrey (RB)
  • Ravens: Nate Wiggins (CB)
  • Seahawks: Uchenna Nwosu (LB, knee), Pharaoh Brown (TE, foot)
  • Vikings: Jordan Addison (WR, ankle)

They are very uncertain this Sunday

  • Bengals: Tee Higgins (WR, hamstring)
  • Seahawks: Kenneth Walker (RB, abs), George Fant (RT, knee)

They are uncertain this Sunday

  • Bears: Rome Odunze (WR, knee), Keenan Allen (WR, heel)
  • Seahawks: Tyrel Dodson (LB, shoulder), Jerome Baker (LB, hamstring)

They are placed on injured reserve and will miss at least 4 games.

  • Chiefs: Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (shoulder)

In short

– The Chiefs were fined $100,000 for an altercation involving Peyton Hendershot (TE, Chiefs) in the season opener. The tight end shoved Roquan Smith (LB, Ravens) after the linebacker pushed Patrick Mahomes off the field. The penalty comes from the fact that Hendershot was inactive for the game and should not have been “participating” at that point in the game. Hendershot was also fined personally, but the amount was not disclosed. (NFL Media)

Dolphins owner ready to give up part of the team

Under a new regulation voted on last August by the owners, the shares of a franchise can now be sold to certain investment funds. According to the New York Times, Stephen Ross (owner of the Dolphins) would be the first to want to draw his gun. The octogenarian could sell 15% of the franchise valued at 7 billion dollars. He would therefore recover a nice check of around a billion if the operation becomes a reality.
