Eric Kendricks changes his mind: “I always liked Mike Zimmer”

All things considered, all was not so gloomy in Minnesota.

At the end of the 2021 season and after seven years spent under Mike Zimmer with the Vikings, Eric Kendricks did not mince his words when his head coach left.

“I don’t think an organization based on fear is ideal,” the linebacker explained.

From now on, and while the two men join the Cowboys, everything seems forgotten.

“We are very happy to see each other again. It's a pleasure to be back with him. I love his workouts, I love his attention to detail, the way he structures things. I'm really excited to play under him again. »

Eric Kendricks spoke “under the influence of emotion”

Questioned by the Dallas Morning News, the linebacker who is coming off a full season with the Chargers (117 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 1 caused smoke) explains that his comments, dating from January 2022, were made in “a particular context » at the end of a disappointing season (8-9 record without reaching the Playoffs).

“There were a lot of emotions. »

The 32-year-old seems to have turned the page. Moreover, he refused an offer from the 49ers to play under Zimmer in Dallas. Proof of his respect for the coach.

Now praising the coach from Illinois, Kendricks continues.

“I always liked Zim. I learned a lot about defense from him. The way he analyzes the videos, the way he dissects things. I learned a lot from him, we had some great seasons and I can't wait to continue. »

The hatchet seems definitively buried. At least officially.

“I totally respect him. We're going to get things done. I spoke with him last weekend and we are both excited to have the opportunity to work together again and perform together. »
