End of strike! Trent Williams (49ers) returns to San Francisco

Unhappy with his current contract, which no longer included guaranteed money, veteran OT Trent Williams has been sitting out the 49ers' training camp in recent weeks. On Tuesday, the player appeared to have found satisfaction. He returned to California while the two sides work on a new deal.

The tackle's brother was the first to leak the connection. On Monday night, he posted a video of the player getting off a plane parked in the Bay.

Tuesday morning, Adam Schefter ofESPN reported that Williams and the 49ers are working on finalizing a deal that would bring him back into the fold immediately. Meanwhile, the player's agency also confirmed to X that the All-Pro is headed to San Francisco to finalize a new deal. All lights are green.

49ers at full strength in week one

After a summer of tough negotiations, the title contenders will (finally) be back at full strength. After reaching an agreement with Brandon Aiyuk (WR) last week, they are reunited with their last star. Eleven-time Pro Bowler Trent Williams is essential in protecting Brock Purdy's weak side. In 2023, he was the NFL's best blocker, with a 95.8% success rate on passing plays. He is no slouch on the ground, averaging 6.05 yards when offensive players run behind him, compared to 4.45 yards on average for other attempts.

Now, only Haason Reddick remains on hold in the NFL.
