ELF: Frenchman Anthony Mahoungou arrives with the Musketeers

French receiver Anthony Mahoungou sets down his bags with the Paris Mousquetaires! A strong reinforcement for the young ELF franchise.

Yes, you read correctly. On his account (ex-Twitter), the European League of Football (ELF) team from Paris, the Mousquetaires, has announced a major recruit. French receiver Anthony Mahoungou has just signed with the young franchise for the 2024 season!

“It’s an honor to represent the capital and join my brothers,” he said.

Originally from Paris, the 29-year-old will strengthen a promising squad.

A CV as long as an arm

After more than ten years spent abroad, he returned to the city where he grew up. And he brings a very impressive CV with him.

Following a notable three-season stint (2015-17) with the Purdue Boilermakers, in Division 1 of the NCAA FBS, Anthony Mahoungou tried his luck among the pros. Not selected in the 2018 draft, he was still tested during the pre-season with the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, he will not be kept in the final squad.

Despite this, he returned to play in Europe and joined the Frankfurt Universe team during the 2019-2020 season, in the German American football league. In 2021, he won the very first season of the ELF within the Frankfurt Galaxy squad. The same year, he quickly moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL), where he played a match for the Ottawa Rouge et Noir.

A successful 2023 season with the Rhein Fire

In 2023, he participates in the 3rd season of the ELF with the Rhein Fire. He demonstrated all his talent at European level with 60 receptions, 984 yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games.

Heavy duty, therefore, for the Musketeers who will have a lot to do to dethrone the reigning champion: the Rhein Fire, precisely. In 2023, Paris has recorded 6 victories for as many defeats.
