Eagles – Dolphins (31-17): Jalen Hurts held on

Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) – Miami Dolphins (5-2): 31-17

Obviously, without a very high level defense, Philadelphia would not have come out of it. But we must salute the performance of Jalen Hurts (23/31, 279 yards, 2 TDs, 1 int). Because it always comes back to the quarterback. Especially in big matches.

Returning from the locker room with a splint on his left leg after halftime, Hurts could have cost his team the game with an interception returned for a touchdown which put the two teams back on a tie (17-17) in the third quarter.

But the Eagles pitcher reacted like a champion. On the next offensive, he ran for 12 yards, distributed a few balls then found the incredible AJ Brown (10 rec, 137 yards, 1 TD) for a 14-yard touchdown. Philadelphia goes back in front (24-17) and will no longer be joined.

Eagles lock down Dolphins’ fiery offense

If Miami does not return to the match, it is because Darius Slay finishes the job by intercepting a pass from Tua Tagovailoa (23/32, 216 yards, 1 TD, 1 int) intended for Raheem Mostert (9 races, 45 yards ) at the start of the fourth quarter. Philadelphia continues with a possession of more than six minutes and a new touchdown (31-17), this time by Kenneth Gainwell. As a symbol, the Dolphins’ last possession does not produce a single yard.

Because it is the Philadelphia defense that it would have been fair to salute first. Facing the best offense in the league, the Eagles locked down the game. Miami’s terrible ground game? He didn’t gain a single yard in the first half, he even lost 7! Tyreek Hill? Relatively contained with 11 receptions but “only” 88 yards and 1 touchdown.

In total, Miami finished with 244 yards and only one offensive touchdown. Tua Tagovailoa was sacked 3 times and threw the game-clinching interception into Slay’s hands.

Logic for the Eagles

Philadelphia started the game with a field goal (3-0) and a defensive stop. A great start stopped by a fumble from Jalen Hurts in his own part of the field. The Dolphins are taking advantage. Nothing to panic the locals, who put on a great offensive for a touchdown from Dallas Goedert (5 rec, 77 yards, 1 TD) (10-7). Miami can’t do it and Hurts scores on the ground to widen the gap (17-3).

The Dolphins finally start just before the break, with a beautiful 27-yard touchdown (17-10) from Tagovailoa for Hill. The only real offensive success of the evening for them. Because in the second half, despite Hurts’ costly interception, Mike McDaniel’s men were unable to regain control of the situation, and Jalen Hurts was able to get the necessary points.

It remains to be seen how the Eagles quarterback’s leg is doing. But when it comes to the field, Philadelphia hits hard against one of the teams in good form at the start of the season.
