Winner of the Biletnikoff trophy in 2021, which rewards the best university receiver, Jordan Addison took the bet in 2022 to change programs to join the prestigious university of USC. A successful choice, despite declining production (with a few fewer matches): he managed to confirm his talent and his qualities in the California workforce. Particularly brilliant in his lines, Addison is certainly the best promotion in the field. Whether on short or long routes, he knows how to make the difference and drop his vis-à-vis. His speed of execution gives him a separation capacity that will delight his future offensive coordinator and of course his future quarterback.
Addison is an intelligent and creative player in his movements who particularly shines in the management of his body in the effort. Ability to accelerate, good support, speed of execution, reversal, it quickly becomes very difficult to defend. He offers an above average combination of speed, balance and vision which allows him to have a head start to make the difference.
Weak points
– Template
– Focus
Not exceeding 80kg, Addison risks suffering from a significant physical deficit against the opposing defensive backs. Faced with a defense evolving in ” press“, his frail profile will suffer. A type of defense that he has only experienced very little during his studies. The transition may not go smoothly. It will then certainly be confined to use in the slot.
If his hands can be described as reliable, Addison is nevertheless sometimes the victim of drops. Balloons released more by a temporary lack of concentration than by a real tendency to soapy gloves.
Possible destinations
Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers
If the debates persist on its statute of receiver number one of the cuvée or not, Addison will be, except medical problem, a first round assured. His technical background gives him a role as a holder and likely major contributor this year. Even with a morphology that can raise questions, Devonta Smith recently proved that it was not an obstacle to production, including as an outside receiver. However, betting on Addison to establish him as number one seems quite risky. On the other hand, placing him as a number two, diversifying the attack and the patterns could make him even more valuable.
Alongside the big and fast Christian Watson, the science of the roads of the USC player would be perfectly complementary and would offer a young and promising duo for the debut of Jordan Love at the head of the attack of Green Bay. If Lamar Jackson ultimately stays in Baltimore, adding a target like Addison would give fresh impetus to a sluggish aerial game.
