Strong points
– Speed
– Changes of direction
– Explosiveness
– Yards after receipt
– Kick returns
The Alabama receiver is one of the stars of this draft at his position. It offers a combo between size and speed that is very enticing. His top speed is elite and he can quickly become a player of big plays on reception as proven by his 11 touchdowns on receptions of more than 30 yards in 2021. His velocity is coupled with lightning supports for changes of direction this which makes him a force on the yards after reception. It will therefore be used for the moment on long tracks, on screen pass games or jet sweeps.
He has good hands and can already dominate on high throws. He is able to fight on 50/50 receptions.
Finally, he is a good returner of kicks thanks to his athletic qualities. In 2021, he scored two kickoff return touchdowns.
Weak points
– Injury
– Lack of muscle
– One-year wonder
– Separation against the press
Despite all his physical qualities, Jameson Williams has weak points and in particular his lack of muscles. When his opponents are in the press, he sometimes has trouble separating from them what can be a handicap in the NFL given the cornerbacks he will face.
In addition, he has only had one very high level season in the NCAA. Before his transfer to Alabama, he played for Ohio State, but he was barred by the duo Chris Olave – Garrett Wilson.
Finally, he has had a knee injury since January due to a ruptured cruciate ligament. His rehabilitation is therefore closely monitored in the draft process and may push him back a few places.
The stat
19.9: the average of yards traveled per reception. This number proves that he is a player capable of making big plays at any time, whether on long routes or after the reception.
Possible destinations
New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders
The NFL has evolved and now speedsters are all the rage. Jameson Williams has this profile, but not only. With its size, it offers an interesting alloy for any team looking for a receiver. Conversely, his injury contracted last January and the fact that he is currently a One-year wonder can scare several franchises. Despite everything, it is difficult to see him out of the first round and a team will fall for him.
