[Draft Sheets] Darius Robinson (DL): complete and mature

Darius Robinson – Defensive End – 22 years old – Senior – Missouri

Height: 1m96
Weight: 131 kg
2023 stats: 43 tackles (14 for losses), 8.5 sacks, 1 fumble covered, 1 forced fumble
Estimated position in the draft: 2nd-3rd round
NFL Comparison: Arik Armstead

In a dense group of defensive linemen, there are many players who still require development. Darius Robinson, on the other hand, is a player already ready for the NFL, which makes his profile very attractive on day two.

The strengths of Darius Robinson

  • Athletic abilities
  • Physical Dimension
  • Run Defense
  • Versatility

If there's one thing that stands out about Robinson at first glance, it's his athletic ability. Endowed with above-average physical strength, he has physical dimensions that make him a prototype easily transposable to the NFL, capable of facing the offensive lines of the big league from year one.

A versatile player, he is a defensive end by trade, capable of playing in almost all NFL schemes. It would not be surprising to see him evolve into the defensive tackle position in certain patterns, in the long term. In this sense the comparison with Arik Armstead makes sense.

When it comes to defending the run, Robinson is quite simply one of the best in the class. An excellent tackler, he is a reassuring and consistent player, which is always valuable in the NFL. In terms of pass rush, he shines in bull rush, further proof of his power.

Darius Robinson's weak points

  • Explosiveness
  • Lateral mobility
  • Technical limitation

Although he is an athlete, he does not have extraordinary explosiveness. Fast on the straight line, Darius Robinson, however, has great difficulty moving laterally, which makes his pass rush one-dimensional.

This limitation is also felt on the technical side, since he seems to be a pass rush specialist but he does not have a wide technical range. Darius Robinson embodies the prototype of the reliable defensive end without being a lethal weapon in pass rush. An essential defender in the first two attempts, but not necessarily in the third.

Possible destinations

Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys

More than three-quarters of teams can use Darius Robinson from day one in just about every defensive scheme. It is therefore difficult to target certain teams more than others. Teams with a weakness in the running game are bound to be interested.

Dallas, for example, must defend the run and renew the position. It is therefore one of the ideal destinations for a franchise which must rebuild its lines.
