Football is a sport requiring athletic qualities: running, jumping, suddenly changing steering: athletes are on the field on Sunday. Not so incongruous then, to assess their capacities in these various fields.
The NFL is a professional league where a merciless competition reigns: between the 32 franchises but also, within the same workforce during training camps or during the season. Can the NFL combines 2025 can be assimilated to a competition: who will exceed the pressure and be up to par?
The workshops with measurement of the NFL combined 2025
40 Yards Dash
The best known because the easiest to understand for the general public: a sprint in a straight line with a scrolling stopwatch. Simple. And spectacular too. Seeing a man traveling 40 yards (36.6 meters) in less than 4.30 seconds is a show.
The coaches are not insensitive to the qualities of speed, especially among the players occupying positions where the sprints find themselves in matches of matches: recipients and cornerbacks. In 2025, monitor the Chronos du Cornerback (former recipient) Darien Porter from Iowa State. During the senior Bowl, he was “flashed” at 36 km/h!
The receiver Xavier Worthy (Chiefs) holds the record with a time of 4.21 seconds, performance carried out last year. His replacement at the University of Texas, Isaiah Bond can also bring back lightning from her supports.
Shuttle and 3 cone
These workshops make it possible to assess the speed to move on one side and then leave for the other. Again, the results of these workshops are particularly important for recipients and cornerbacks: especially those intended to play in the slot.
In attack, the players must run in one direction and then suddenly branch off to get free of marking. After a season accomplished with the University of Florida, the receiver Ricky Pearsall had signed in 2024 a time of 4.05 seconds on the Shuttle (6th time) and 6.64 seconds on the 3 CONE (2nd chrono): Raise your rating until you are chosen at the end of the 1st round.
High jump
Made without momentum, it allows you to assess the dry relaxation of a player. You have to know how to get up to get the ball during disputed wrestling. Lacking the “standard” size for a cornerback, Mike Sainristil had demonstrated in 2024 his ability to compensate for this with a vertical relaxation of more than a meter.
This workshop is also important when an unusual performance is produced by a heavier player. This was the case for Dallas Turner last year and in 2025, the performance of Shemar Turner in this exercise will be scrutinized for a player of more than 120 kilos.
Long jump
No, football players should not jump forward on Sunday. But carried out without momentum, it makes it possible to assess the athletic qualities of the lower body (sheathing and legs).
If these players never produce the best pure performance, the results are important for players of offensive and defensive lines. In these positions, the power is important, not being clumsy as well. These players are very close on both sides of the engagement line: they must explode when the ball is committed to take the advantage.
Of course knowing how to play low on your supports and having a good hand technique remain the fundamentals in these positions but, being explosive also counts. In 2011, the Jason Kelce Center of Eagles were distinguished with a jump of 2.80 meters.
The Developed Bench
A 100 -kilo bar to be lifted and brought back as many times as possible. This workshop is mainly carrying indications for those who must fight in the trenches: being strong enough to attack or repel your attacker for 60 minutes.
With 31 repetitions, Jared Pour with demonstrated his strength during the 2024 edition. Added at his speed (4.58 sec on 40 yards), his mix of power and speed was confirmed on NFL terrains last year.
NFL -shaped workshops combined 2025
The Gauntlet
If catching balloons during a combined NFL workshop cannot be assimilated to a match situation, this nevertheless makes it possible to put all the players on an equal footing in terms of conditions.
In 2024, the receiver soon “Oscar winner” Keon Coleman (Buffalo) distinguished himself in this exercise. After a disappointing time on the sprint as well as barely average jumps, he had raised his rating with the assessors: after all, having reliable hands is the first of the quality to have for a recipient.
In 2025, the receiver Jayden Higgins will not sign the best time on the sprint! But the reliability of his hands, demonstrated on university land, should allow him to score points in this workshop.
The exercise consists from one touch line to the other, grabbing 7 balloons launched in different places on the ground.
W
The “W” is a workshop for the defensive rear because it approaches what they are going through in a match. A “W” like a drawing of this exercise: a rear race then a forward with angle to the left, again a rear race and a last race forward to finish.
Sports interest is that the defensive rear must be able to back down and then anticipate the routes Comeback And Curl of the recipient followed in marking. There is no balloon at stake and the players are not in equipment but yet these sudden changes situations of directions are well on Sunday on the field.

This workshop, well known to pro days and training camps, is also on the program: running around two hoops placed on the ground and collecting in places, an element. The goal is to assess the ability to flex your hips while accelerating in an arc of a circle, and knowing how to lean without losing speed.
An important exercise for exterior pass-rushers because it mimics what they should be able to do in a match: bypass the offensive lineman with speed while leaning over to avoid being repulsed.

Mannequins
Defensive line players must show in different exercises, their faculties to slalom between models, while making use of “violent hands”.
Because visual printing lively is important for coaches, some players could impress like Yaya Diaby in 2023. Already assessed as potential choice of the Top 15, Mason Graham (Michigan) and Mykel Williams (Georgia) could be distinguished in 2025.
The assessment at the NFL combined 2025 is permanent
For quarterbacks, the conditions cannot be compared to those of matches, but their mechanics and their foot games are constantly scrutinized.
And of course, the interviews are decisive about their final assessments: they are the face of the future NFL franchise, so they must give wages as to their characters.
