Draft: Jalen Carter released on bail but absent at the Combine

Jalen Carter met with the police. On Wednesday, at 11:23 p.m. precisely, he presented himself to the authorities.

He was released 16 short minutes later, after being charged with dangerous driving and racing on public roads. He posted $4,000 bail for the right to leave.

Earlier, the defensive tackle had announced that he would ultimately not participate in the Scouting Combine.

“I intend to return to Athens, Georgia to respond to the charges against me and to ensure that the truth is presented fully and accurately. There is no doubt for me that I will be totally exonerated from any accusation. »

Carter was wanted in connection with the investigation into a car accident that dates back to January 15. Two people died that day: one of his teammates and a member of his university staff. Excessive speed seems to be part of the causes of their fatal accident. Carter was not in the same vehicle. Justice now seems to want to shed light on its exact role in the events.

It should be noted that Carter does not risk any sanction from the NFL, since the facts took place before his arrival in the league.

His rating during the Draft could, on the other hand, suffer from these events. He is regularly mentioned in the Top 5 of the next selection. He had 18.5 sacks in three seasons with the Bulldogs.
