The star cornerback made the decisive interception to give Miami the victory, which remains undefeated at home this season.
Miami Dolphins (7-3) – Las Vegas Raiders (5-6): 20-13
It was harder than expected for Miami, but the main thing is assured.
In a match where the Dolphins were irregular offensively, where they had waste, and where they again lost their young runner De’Von Achane to injury, it was the defense that allowed the Florida team to get going again with victory. As a symbol, cornerback Jalen Ramsey made the decision on an interception at the very end of the match.
Competitive from the first to the last minute, the Raiders may harbor regrets, losing for the first time under Antonio Pierce.
Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams put on a show
The first half is filled with big plays, both offensive and defensive, and on both sides.
The Raiders strike first by causing a fumble from Tua Tagovailoa (28/39 passing, 325 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT, 1 fumble) which allows them to score a field goal (0-3). Just behind, two of the very best receivers in the NFL shine: first, Tyreek Hill (10 REC, 146 YDS, 1 TD), who outpaces everyone on a 38-yard reception to put the Dolphins on the good rails (7-3). A touchdown to which Las Vegas responds immediately with a bomb from Aidan O’Connell (24/41, 271 YDS, 1 TD, 3 INT) for Davante Adams (7 REC, 82 YDS, 1 TD), who finds the end zone in turn (7-10).
The Las Vegas defense then succeeds in stopping Miami’s attack in the red zone (on fourth down), where it is usually unstoppable. But it’s only a postponement for the Dolphins. While Hill made a detour to the locker room to treat a hand injury, Jaylen Waddle (4 REC, 55 YDS) came out of his box to chain receptions, before runner Salvon Ahmed found the end zone on a reception of 11 yards (14-10).
The two teams finally returned to the locker room with a score of 14-13, Las Vegas taking advantage of a second Miami fumble to reduce the gap at the very end of the half.
Jalen Ramsey and Miami’s defense too strong
Turnovers continue to punctuate the match in the second period. Tua Tagovailoa was intercepted in the first play after the break, Aidan O’Connell – very clean in the first half – imitated him immediately, but neither team managed to really capitalize. While the defenses dominate, we are treated to nothing other than two field goals from Miami (and one missed) in the third quarter (20-13).
Trailing by a touchdown and less impactful on the run than in the previous two weeks, the Raiders tried to go through the air to defeat the Miami defense. But the latter is well prepared: she manages to put O’Connell under pressure while Davante Adams is invisible.
We had to wait until the last five minutes of the match to see Las Vegas get closer to the Florida end zone. A 31-yard reception from Hunter Renfrow (5 REC, 42 YDS) gives the Raiders hope, but these hopes will quickly be dashed. Under pressure, Aidan O’Connell finds no solution and sends an interception on a fourth down, while he is being sacked.
The Raiders’ defense offers O’Connell a final opportunity in the last two minutes, but cornerback Jalen Ramsey definitively kills the game by making a magnificent interception (his second of the game) in his own end zone. 20-13 Miami, game over!
