He has brought the Dolphins back to life, and the franchise is returning the favor. According to Jeff Darlington (ESPN), Mike McDaniel signed a new contract this Friday. The extension runs through 2028.
For the first time since the Dan Marino years and the 1994 season, the Dolphins finished 2023 as the NFL's leading offense with 401 yards per game. Only the Cowboys scored more points than Mike McDaniel's offense (29.9 points per game, compared to 29.2 for the Dolphins). A performance that allowed the Dolphins to reach the playoffs for the second time in as many seasons under McDaniel.
Individually, Tyreek Hill was the league's most prolific receiver (1,799 yards). His right-hand man Jaylen Waddle also finished over 1,000 yards. On the ground, the Floridians were not left behind with the insolent success of Devon Achane (7.8 yards per carry!). Raheem Mostert piled up the touchdowns (18 on the run).
As is often the case with coaches, the amount of the contract is not known.
