Tua Tagovailoa will keep one of his favorite targets. According to ESPN, the Dolphins have decided to place the franchise tag on Mike Gesicki.
The tight end comes out of a season with 73 receptions for 780 yards and 2 touchdowns, the most successful of his career. During the first four years of his career, marked by constant progression, the player chosen in the second round in 2018 accumulated 199 receptions. Only six tight ends have done better over this period.
The Dolphins now have until July 15 if they want to negotiate a long-term contract with their player. Otherwise, he will enter the upcoming season on a one-year contract for a guaranteed salary of $10.9 million.
