Dolphins – Broncos (70-20): Tua Tagovailoa and De’Von Achane humiliate Denver

Miami Dolphins (3-0) – Denver Broncos (0-3): 70-20

Mind-blowing. Mad. Record. There will be no shortage of adjectives to describe the humiliation inflicted by the Dolphins on their visitors this Sunday. Denver conceded 726 total yards. 350 on the ground. 376 in the air.

The Dolphins scored 10 touchdowns. 70 points, the third highest total in NFL history. The record remains the 72 points scored by the Redskins in 1966. A record that Miami had the opportunity to beat at the very end of the match. The team was within field goal range, but Mike McCarthy chose to take a knee to stop the humiliation.

Tua Tagovailoa completed his first 17 passes. Tyreek Hill (9 rec, 157 yards, 1 TD) and rookie De’Von Achane (18 races, 203 yards, 2 TDs – 4 rec, 30 yards, 2 TDs) exploded the counters.

The offense scored a touchdown on each of the first three possessions to lead 21-7 and never look in the rearview mirror again.

Miami too fast for the Broncos

What could Denver do with a defense dominated like that? Russell Wilson (23/38, 306 yards, 1 TD, 1 int) went for a touchdown on his second possession, to get back to 14-7. He then scored a field goal, but Miami was already far away (21-10). And above all, the Dolphins never let up their effort, while the Broncos ended the first half with punts, fumbles and field goals. 35-13 at the break, it’s already over.

Especially when returning from the locker room, when it seemed hardly possible, things got even worse for Wilson and Sean Payton. Punt, fumble, interception, punt, punt… And here Miami leads 63-13…

And it’s not even the offense that saves face, since the Broncos’ last touchdown is scored by Marvin Mims on a 99-yard kickoff return. Achane, the sensation of the day, completes the festival with a 67-yard run for the touchdown.

With three victories and an attack on fire, the Dolphins are more of a scarecrow than ever in the AFC. As for the Broncos, the arrival of Sean Payton will not have had a magical effect.
