Miami Dolphins (1-1) – Buffalo Bills (2-0): 10-31
Led by its driving duo Josh Allen (QB) and James Cook (RB), the Bills team got off to the best start and was never caught in this game.
Injured in the left hand last Sunday, Josh Allen did not seem bothered by the protective glove: 139 aerial yards with 68% of passes completed. Playing behind a high-performance offensive line, he was replaced by Mitch Trubisky at the very end of the game as Buffalo's margin was so large.
While Buffalo was rolling, Tua Tagovailoa, on the other hand, had a very complicated evening. A succession of interceptions punctuated by an injury.
Tua Tagovailoa welcoming then injured
In the first quarter, Tua Tagovailoa (17/25, 145 yards, 1 TD, 3 int) offered two interceptions to his guests. The Bills capitalized by first scoring a touchdown by James Cook, playing a 4th attempt. Then settled for a kick for three additional points.
After a shock by winning a first attempt at the race, the Hawaiian thrower is replaced by Skylar Thompson at the end of the 3rd quarter, due to a concussion. Before that, he had thrown his third interception of the game, which was returned for the touchdown of 31-10 by Ja'Marcus Ingram!
Already battered, without him the Dolphins were never able to make up their deficit. De'Von Achane was a rare offensive satisfaction with 96 yards on the ground and 69 yards after reception.
Little brother knows how to cook
After a very promising rookie season, James Cook confirmed his talent with three touchdowns in the first half. Younger brother of Dalvin Cook (Cowboys), he allowed his team to go into the locker room with a 14-point advantage at halftime: 24 to 10.
Performing well on the ground as well as in reception, he recorded 95 cumulative yards and three touchdowns in this match. Receiver Khalil Shakir (54 yards) and tight end Dalton Kincaid (33 yards) took care of the rest.
Chicken wings and sauce
Known for this type of cuisine, Buffalo can count on its defense to spice up its dish. Buffalo's defense limited Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to just 65 yards between them!
Ed Oliver brings the spice with three tackles including two for losses (1 sack). Linebackers Dorian Williams and Baylon Spector, 20 tackles between them, made up for Terrel Bernard's injury in the first quarter.
Undrafted in 2022, cornerback Ja'Marcus Ingram recorded two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. After playing his final NCAA year at the University of Buffalo, he made his mark in the same city, but this time as a professional.
Buffalo can now rest: meet on Monday, September 23 for the reception of Jacksonville.
