DJ Reader has just signed a two-year, $27 million deal with the Lions! The Bengals weren't fast enough.
The Bengals ultimately did not extend it. DJ Reader just signed a two-year, $27.25 million commitment (including 9 guaranteed) with the Lions. The veteran had been one of Cincinnati's strong men for several seasons. With his arrival in Detroit, the veteran is a significant addition to the defensive line. He will complete an already prolific squad alongside a certain Aidan Hutchinson.
Visiting the Lions premises, the team wasted no time in signing him. According to NFL Media, the Bengals were also on board to extend the adventure with the defensive lineman who had become a free agent again.
Statistics still good
The Bengals also offered a lucrative 4-year, $53 million contract to the player in 2020. During the 2023 campaign, Reader participated in 14 games. The statistics remain as solid as ever: 34 tackles, including two for a loss, a sack, a fumble covered and a pass defended.
