DeVonta Smith: ‘AJ Brown influenced me a lot’

The second most prolific duo in the NFL this season, the two Eagles receivers opened up about their bond during Wednesday’s media session.

88 receptions, 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns for AJ Brown. 95 receptions, 1,196 yards and 7 touchdowns for DeVonta Smith. Both Philadelphia wide receivers have simply flown through the season, each having their career-best campaign. And all this is surely no coincidence.

During the media session at the Eagles hotel on Wednesday, sophomore DeVonta Smith was asked about the impact an All-Pro receiver like Brown, who arrived in Philadelphia in the 2022 offseason, could have. did not hesitate to pay tribute to the latter, who according to him played a central role in his progress.

“He influenced me a lot. In particular on the technical level where he showed me a lot of things, but also in the way of analyzing the video and this kind of stuff. All of this helped me become the player I am today. »

Nevertheless, AJ Brown does not want to think of himself as a big brother. Although he has more experience than his teammate, he assures that DeVonta has also allowed him to become a better receiver since his departure from the Titans.

“We’re just two good friends who want to succeed, who work hard. We help each other. Just because I’m older doesn’t mean I’m teaching him everything. He also teaches me things. We can’t stop talking about our routes, we talk non-stop, and our relationship off the pitch is getting stronger and stronger. We play bowling and that kind of stuff. I found out he’s an amazing bowler, he’s got his own ball and stuff, he’s serious! »

The complicity between the two recipients is undeniable. And then there is also this healthy competition between them which allows everyone to push their limits to become even stronger.

Biggest winners in history? It is obviously the Eagles, who are only one victory away from the supreme title. If they go all the way on Sunday, they can say thank you to their formidable duo.
