Expected during his draft as Detroit’s future great cornerback, Jeff Okudah has not confirmed the expectations placed on him, and he will have to do it elsewhere. ESPN reported that Okudah was sent to the Falcons. In exchange, the Lions recover a 5th round of the next draft.
At 24, Okudah will have to relaunch in Atlanta, his performance so far not having been up to the 3rd pick of the 2020 draft that the Lions had then spent to recover him. Granted, he hasn’t been spared from injury since the start of his professional career, but he hasn’t been the dominant cornerback that Detroit was hoping for, either.
The recruitments of Cameron Sutton and Emmanuel Moseley during the offseason, in addition to the various options available for the position during the upcoming draft, finally had to convince the leaders of the Lions to separate from Okudah. The Falcons therefore recover a player who is still young, undeniably talented and who still has everything to prove. The duo he could form with AJ Terrell promises to be intriguing.
