Kobe through and through.
Every NFL player once had an inspiration that helped them reach the highest level. But for Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, first team All-Pro in 2017 and five-time Pro Bowler during his career, it’s not on the football fields that you have to look. His idol ? The late Kobe Bryant, legendary Lakers basketball player.
During the media session at the Eagles hotel on Thursday, Slay shared his admiration for the Black Mamba, who was incidentally a native of Philadelphia and a huge Eagles fan.
“He’s the reason why I wanted to play cornerback. Because he was a great defender, he always wanted to defend against the best opposing player. I always wanted to do the same, I want to have the most difficult job and put the team on my back. It’s all about him. »
With a tattoo of Kobe on his leg and having worn the number 24 in honor of Bryant during the 2020 season, Slay continues to be inspired by the man who collected during his career 12 nominations in one of the two NBA All -Defensive teams.
A source of inspiration that Darius will obviously take with him to the Super Bowl on Sunday, where he will try to become a champion like his idol.
